Equality Utah Issues

Equality Utah works to secure equal rights and protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Utahns and their families. Toward this mission, Equality Utah drafts legislation and coordinates efforts to ensure its passage; lobbies legislators and other elected officials; builds coalitions, educates, empowers and energizes individuals and organizations to actively participate in the political process.

Employers should make hiring decisions based on a person’s job performance, work experience, and education, not on whom they love.

Hate crimes

Because of her skin color. Because he’s disabled. Because she’s transgender. Because of his religion. When a person is targeted by violence for any of these reasons, a hate crime has occurred.

No young person should feel unsafe at school or in their community because of their orientation or gender identity.

Transgender Utahns

A transgender person is someone who knows on a deep level that their gender is different from the sex they were born with.

Our Families

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people become parents because they want to provide a stable loving home to their children.

Racial & Economic Justice

All LGBTQ individuals are economically vulnerable under Utah law. LGBTQ people of color face unique obstacles to a fair and just Utah.
