Equality Utah - Sarah Gene Hjalmarson, Director

Sarah Gene Hjalmarson, Director

Sarah Gene Hjalmarson recently started a career in Emergency Management as the Disaster Response Technician for Primary Children's Hospital.  While the career path resulted from a well-timed internship opportunity, their desire to be a helper has been a lifelong passion.  Whether as a trained student-mediator in their schools, a chaplain's volunteer in a county prison, a Combat Medic in the United States Army, the Health and Wellness Coordinator for the Utah Pride Center, or completing a bachelor's degree in Health Promotion & Education, Sarah Gene's belief that every person has a story worth hearing and a heart worth healing is a driving force in their life.

Sarah Gene is a believer in balance.  We all have something to give and we all have something we need, we all have power and we all have desire, we all feel joy and pain. How I choose to manage the sides of that scale will affect the world around me, whether I intend it to or not.

Sarah Gene lives in Salt Lake City with their fiancé and two dogs.
