The health needs of gay and transgender people are often unknown, under-funded or ignored by policy makers and health care authorities. The HIV/AIDS pandemic continues to threaten gay and bisexual men. Lesbian and bisexual women live in a society that often dismisses their health concerns. Transgender Utahns also face roadblocks to healthcare through discrimination and sub-standard insurance coverage.
Equality Utah works to ensure that health care reform addresses the needs of all Utahns, including those who are gay or transgender.
Through collaborative efforts with our community partners Utah AIDS Foundation and People with AIDS Coalition Utah, Equality Utah will continue to advocate for the funds needed to properly serve those living with HIV/AIDS and those who are at-risk.
